(ENDE298) Cr1mem1n1ster - Brutal Harvest

Cr1mem1n1ster is an industrial/breakcore producer from The Slovak Republic who makes a type of hard, driving hardcore that incorporates sounds of the natural world, random noises and electronic effects instread of vocal samples and synthlines as a palette to lay his hardcore rhythms on. He's been around for a few years now and has previously released on labels such as Sonicterror Recordings, Mobcore Chicago, SuperBad MIDI Breaks and SEUA.

Cr1mem1n1ster's production style is surprising at first. The absence of prominent vocal samples, synths and heavy reese bass and the very minimal atonal synth and basslines means you're forced to hone in on those driving kicks. He relies on the occasional hints of pads and electronic modulations to provide the slight representation of a melodic or musical presence which gives it a disoriented sci-fi cinematic effect. Until that is you get to the closing track "Really CUTE Fucker" which has a smooth saw wave coiling itself around the kick drums.

But also he uses an actual saw...like a chainsaw to create a riff on opener "Moral Collapse Knocks On Your Door"

On "Break My Back" for example he builds an almost guitar riff type intro out of overdistorted, synth gratings before what sounds like someone hyperventilating gives away to another kick pounding. His metallic snares give his tracks a real classic industrial noise sound. A pipe clanging, snare roll sound over rapid fire kick rolls that sound almost like human drumming.

His old school approach to production with minimal musicality and hinted voices and pads, brings the beats sternly to the front and centre and makes him a unique producer and a perfect new contributor to ENDE Records and "Brutal Harvest" an introduction to an intriguing new producer indeed.
