(ENDE293) Noistruct - Tribute Mix to Shizuo (1973-2011)

Shizuo aka David Hammer started producing in 1994. He was one of the pioneers of the original breakcore sound, One of the most influential of all breakcore producers ever and the jewel in the Digital Hardcore Recordings crown.
His debut and only album "Shizuo vs Shizor" remains one of the most heralded and praised albums in breakcore history. His collaborations with close friend DJ Scud on both DHR and Ambush Records are still among the favourites of most old school producers.

Aside from Shizuo. Hammer had a side band called Give Up which apparently imploded onstage one night in 1997 after Hammer fired them all.

Legendary German electronic producer and experimentalist Annika Trost was also a member of Give Up. She went on to form Cobra Killers with Gina V. Dorio formerly of EC80R. Ghazi Barakat who has been in a number of bands and had a number of projects including Boy From Brazil was also in Give Up.

The creator of his own style he christened "Fuckstep" there has never been another breakcore producer as good as him and there never ever will.

It always was and always will be SHIZUO.

David Hammer quit Shizuo in the early 2000s. His final official release was "Shizuo No. 1" which he self released in 2000. There were no further official Shizuo releases sanctioned by him, his friends or his family released after that. There has been some cheeky bootlegs and fake imitation tracks made by unscrupulous American opportunists to look like him though. But the original deal is long since gone. "Shizuo No. 1" is the FINAL official Shizuo release.

After that he was last seen playing in a punk band called "The Nothings" which released one 7" on the illl-fated German label Louisville Records in 2007.

David Hammer passed away in Berlin on May 15th 2011. He was 37.

Saturday May 15th marked 10 years since the untimely passing of David Hammer aka Shizuo.

This mix is a tribute to his legacy and includes both released and unreleased material, rare live tracks and tracks from his debut cassette "Disko Punk"

This mix is 100% free for anyone anywhere to enjoy the music of Shizuo.
