about

(ENDE250) Krobatt - Troubled

To help us celebrate the milestone of 250 releases at ENDE Records! UK breakcore/fuckstep/junglist hardcore producer Krobatt throws us his long awaited first web label longplayer "Troubled"

This album has been in the making since 2018 after the release of his debut EP "Low-Fi Hell Raiser" on Mobcore Chicago and the split follow up with Noistruct on UK web label Broken To The Core "Technology Fatigue" his tracks on which - completely blew us away.

A long time follower of ENDE Records. We asked him to produce a longplayer for us to really spoil our breakcore fanatics, since the short amount of tracks he had released in EPs and splits previously, left us hungry for more!.
Aside from the aforementioned EP and album. Krobatt has done 3 self released EPs and albums which are now almost unattainable online.
Some of the better tracks from those releases we insisted he allow us to pilfer from for this...his first widely available album.

Krobatt is one of the few producers I can think of who marries the alchemy and distortion of old school breakcore with the rave rhythms and upbeat swing of new school breakcore, but without the typical darkness, pessimism or empty posturing of some producers of either schools of style.
Coming from an influence pool as wide as hip hop, trip hop, dark dub, breakcore, techno, fuckstep, digital hardcore, noise, IDM, turntablism, gabber and jungle to name but a few.

Krobatt's dark sense of humour , love of sci-fi and futurism perfectly compliments his erratic rhythms, sometimes frequent tempo changes and beautifully executed haunting synths and pads. Technological failure and glitch ambience is dropped in like fills at various times across the album and there's even moments of banging techno, hip hop and dubstep as well as a welcome return to slow breakcore and the brutal offtime and abrasion of fuckstep.

Krobatt's short attention span for track coherence works in his favour. Multiple elements of electronic rhythm and styles from the classics of the first 20 years to the software abuse of the most recent decades, pepper his tracks and combine into this almost hour of madness..and create something truly unique.

It wouldn't be fair to tag him with any particular style really. Once you peg him as new school breakcore he drops a turntablist hip hop moment for all of a minute or so and you realise that a boundary has yet to be built to define or impede this young producer.

One of the most eagerly anticipated releases for the ENDE staff of 2019. Krobatt will also feature a track on the forthcoming 12" compilation on ENDE Records "Suppressive Fire" available in 2019.

Until then sit back and prepare yourself for the new era of undefinable breakcore sculptors...lead by the likes of...

Krobatt.
