about

(ENDE226) Low Entropy - Best Of 20 Years

For his final digital release on ENDE Records. Longtime supporter and doomcore/breakcore legend Low Entropy presents "Best Of 20 Years" a retrospective of some of his best material over the last two decades, pulled from a selection of his 150+ releases and compilation appearances on cassette, CD, CDR, digital and vinyl.

The first half of the selection is handpicked by Low Entropy himself and includes his most well known and popular tracks like "Orbital Bombing", "Cyberspace", "Urban Uprising" and "I Am God" which showcases his early beginnings in breakcore, acid experimentation and full tilt gabber, industrial hardcore and doomcore.

The second half was selected by ENDE Records and includes his more abrasive and uncompromising breakcore tracks, some known from releases on labels like Kougai, Praxis and Widerstand and some not so known from later self released collections and compilations. Also included is a few rare alternate mixes and demo versions.

We asked for an extension of the collection to include early tracks like "Fuck It" and "No Turning Back" which show that while he was still producing breakcore. He was one of the best around at the time doing so. Breakbeat obliterations and waves of synth bass and scraping noise, avalanching everything in it's path and usually coming to an abrupt stop only because the mechanics of the equipment producing it sound like they could give way at any moment. A time when breakcore floored those exposed to it as a style of techno that wasn't content to change the rules but smash them. Also selected are some of his most devastating speedcore killers like "Napalm Bombing" and "Zwitsch". Low Entropy proved very early into his music lifespan that he was not a one trick pony. And like many great electronic producers, can approach any style that interests him and still leave a unique and signature mark on it.

BIO:
Low Entropy was born 1980 in Hamburg, Germany. He got into electronic music when the Techno / Rave craze swept
over Europe in the mid-90s. Soon the regular Techno was no longer enough and he discovered the then widespread
Hardcore and Gabber sound of labels like Ruffneck, Mokum and Shockwave. He soon found out there was an even more
extreme scene beneath this music, so he got into Speedcore, Breakcore and Noisecore championed by labels like
Fischkopf, Napalm and Praxis.
In 1997 he started doing music himself, using MS-DOS tracker program technology. He used the internet to spread
this early music and connect with other artists on labels. His first track on vinyl was released in 1998, the
800 bpm track "Adrenaline Junkie". Apart from some tape releases, his music output focused on the online realm
until his first full-length vinyl release in 2000, the "Anti-Sedative EP" on Blut records. The year 2000 also
saw his first live-gig at the Fuckparade in Berlin. This was also the year he started a terrestrial radio show
with Betty Bombshell; when Betty left the show he started the Hamburg Hardcore Radio together with DJ Sampler
19. This show became really popular in Hamburg. Artists like Cybermouse, Bakalla, Taciturne played at these
shows. Later DJ Escada and The Man Unknown joined the crew. This crew called itself "Maniac Menschen" and also
helped run a zine, a CD-R label and organized the "All-Out Demolition!" parties in Hamburg, taking place in a
notorious squat.

In 2001 a Breakcore split EP with Cdatakill was released. In 2002 the Anarcho-Psychotic EP on Praxis followed;
and the Acid-Massacre EP on Black Monolith. This marked a shift in style; no longer Breakcore but Acid and
Acidcore, Technoid Hardcore which was a path he would walk on for the years to come.
2003 saw the release of his first album, a 2x12" on Widerstand records. It featured older Breakcore and newer
Experimental tracks; including a lot of tracks that had become very popular at gigs such as "Anarchize" and "I
Am God". In 2004 he took a break from the music scene, which lasted until 2008. In between the Emerald Planet EP
was released which had tracks that were already finished before the break. The style was Doomcore and
Doomtechno.

When he got back into music in 2008, soon Doomcore and Technoid Hardcore became the main style of his releases;
first published DIY, then later on online labels, such as Viral Conspiracy, ENDE Records, Legs Akimbo, Zuur.
He became really addicted to the workings of Techno music, especially to older releases in this genre on labels
like Force Inc, Bunker, DJ.Ungle Fever and he tried to fuse a variety of Techno influences into his Doomcore
style. A second obsession soon took hold of him; New Wave and Post-Punk, and he soon began incorporating Post-
Punk style melancholic melodies into his tracks; the darkness of early Gothic New Wave and Doomcore just seemed
to be made for each other.
Apart from Doomcore and Techno, Low Entropy also still makes music in other genres, such as Speedcore and Dark
Ambient.

The popularity of his music grew with his internet releases, and artists that dropped his tracks in their Sets
include Drokz, Minimum Syndicat and many others.

Apart from his own music activity, Low Entropy runs the EEAOM blog which focuses on showcasing new, interesting
music, and the Thoughts On Some things blog about political and philosophical topics.

Low Entropy produced over 1000 tracks in over 150 releases.
