about

(ENDE57) Angry Teenagers Who Want To Kill People - Mentos Beats

Angry Teenagers Who Want To Kill People was originally two producers of jungle/breakcore and noise Simon (Ella) Rudland and Tim Jones but eventually extended to include Palko Juhas and Phill Proud.

Hailing from Perth Western Australia. Simon (Ella) Rudland and Tim Jones met in high school and began collaborating in 2001. After a number of drum n bass and jungle tracks ATWWTKP gradually moved more into breakcore, broken beat and noise.

Around 2003. Simon discovered the System Corrupt forum and met other producers in Australia. This lead to more collaborations and eventually shows in Melbourne with Perth breakcore label 8-Bit Recordings and Melbourne label/collective Black Lotus. In 2005 and 2006 they released two albums for NZ label God Rekidz. " All Hail Turds Jeussus" and "Pig Technology" as well as contributed to compilations for Blue Mountains NSW label Painfreefoundsound Institute and Newcastle label Noisemachine.

ATWWTKP sound varies from bonecrushing amen breakcore to extreme noise, jungle and IDM. Avid fans of electronic music, rave culture and abstract comedy. They worked all of this together and the style of teenage humour never left their sound. They had only 2 releases and CDRs scattered across the planet that were given to people. But they were by far one of the best breakcore acts in Australia. The production skill and output was impressive. Live shows were rare and usually pretty amazing. They were for a long time like a best kept secret in the Australian breakcore scene.

"Mentos Beats" was an album that was originally given out on CDR to friends, family, other producers and labels overseas. Now for the first time it has a wider release through ENDE Records.

All of the usual elements they were known for are here. The brutal amen smashers, pisstake techno tracks, noise blasts, experimentalism and hilarious sampling. Some breakcore producers used comedic sampling as a disguise for shitty tracks. But ATWWTKP were never one of them.

ATWWTKP inevitably eventually grew up and stopped being teenagers and ended almost a decade of production.
The members are now off having lives and scattered around the globe. Although Simon (now known as Ella) has released records and contributed to compilations as "Angry Teenager" "Andy Warphole" and his current IDM project "Dora The Extruder"
