about

(ENDE37) Low Entropy - The Break Experiment

A formidably prolific techno producer and master of hardcore techno. Low Entropy needs little introduction to most.
Developing his craft in Germany at a time when the country was becoming well known for being at the forefront of darker and heavier techno styles. He has been exploring the boundaries of electronic music since the mid 90s.

Initially cutting his teeth in the Hamburg scene and releasing records with Widerstand, Kougai and Praxis including the infamous split with Cdatakill in 2001 and his debut album with Widerstand in 2003 with arguably his finest moment "Orbital Bombing"
Low Entropy was a major contributor of the late 90s/early 2000s breakcore scene.

After initially disappearing from the scene in the mid 2000s and then returning with a slew of self releases and an online public critique on the then current status of breakcore and why he chose to leave.

Low Entropy has built up an entirely new reputation and fanbase on the back of his old one. Embracing not only the advantages of the internet's promised land of self releasing and artist control. But seeking out and openly promoting and contributing to the burgeoning web label and new producer driven hardcore landscape. His adaptable tastes and influences and varied styles such as acid techno, industrial hardcore, gabber, noise, breakcore, dark ambient and doomcore means he can provide for a number of tastes as well as his own.

As a result he now stands with an impressive CV of almost 100 releases and nearly 40 compilation appearances in 15 years on his own self releasing label and the aforementioned Kougai, Praxis and Widerstand as well as Blut, Black Monolith Records, Doomcore, K-Net, Mental Arrested, Antistatic, The Time Traveller, Threshold Driven, ZUUR, Final Soundscapes and Encounters as well as web labels such as Viral Conspiracy, Legs Akimbo Records, and the former Night Terror Recordings and now ENDE Records...

.. In fact when he was asked to be on this label he not only was more than happy to give us a release but he had one ready in under 4 hours!

"The Break Experiment" is a trip back to early 90s producer driven live recorded electronic hardcore records. Lush synths and pads and acid basslines wrapped around thick, heavy 909 kicks and distorted claps and crashes. Remniscient of the time before sampler and tracker driven hardcore. Universes of Vangelesque like keyboard creations. Orchestral stabs, pads and keys used like they were before they just provided build ups for house music.

Using a simple palette of what the machines have given you. kicks, snares, hats, crashes and claps to create abrasive and erratic drum patterns to juxtapose the dark soundtracks they accompany. Fans of early hardcore/gabber and artists like Bioxeed, Aftermath and Kotzaak Klan will enjoy this.
