If the first few minutes of "Broken and Blistered" were any indication of what we were in for. This album was going to be far less comfortable a journey than previous releases.

Distant voices fading in and out, droning wails and reverbed hits dropped randomly like in an enclosed stairwell. Illustrate the haunted composition we find ourselves in, before it slowly builds into an uneasy noisescape. This is not even the worst of the tension and unease that's to come.

"Our Fates Burn Forever" is a heavily textured and layered, abstract noise, dark ambient and drone album.

Something built of half remembered nightmares, cinematic soundscapes, noise collage and lilting ambient drones. Noises slither and crawl, rattle and fragment. Awash with reverb and delays which perfectly mask the sound's original source and allow the subversion of it's intent. It's like a journey through the outtakes of a forgotten Clive Barker adaptation rejected for being too disturbing for release.

Despite Sympathetic | Division's skill in building these moments. There's a sense of that loss of control that could occur when making these sounds. Like any minute he could lose control of the reigns and whatever audio demon he's conjured with his mind will escape of it's own volition.

A constant forboding suspense which builds relentlessly without pay off when it's not teasing a lighter emotion with wispier and delicate tones. These never last long though. Like any upbeat melody or composition that is built specifically to evoke feelings of positivity. It can devolve into malaise and melancholic subversion with just a few minor changes. Like a truth that can't be masked by a denial of artificial joy.

Sympathetic | DIVISION is David Wisking an Australian based experimental/noise/drone artist, creating long evolving soundscapes inspired by sci-fi, HP Lovecraft and dystopian futures. He has previously released 11 albums on CD, CDR, cassette and digital in the last 8 years including last year's "The Collective" EP for ENDE Records.

He has also collaborated with Kenji Siratori, Disturbed Earth and Nightshades and co-runs the netlabel Dustin Must Die together with Die Society Die.

He also records under the names of The Sunken, CYCLOPEAN FREQUENCIES, The Ghosts Of Earth, CALLOUS PULSE, Schematics and FaithCrisis.
