(ENDE130) Etdevagina - Vehemens 2

In December last year we were approached by a young man with a love of breakcore and metal (don't they all?) who aside from combining the two had an interest in bringing the intensity of metal drumming to breakcore rather than just sampling slabs of metal like most. So he gave us the album "Vehemens" and we were impressed with this combination of metal drumming and breakcore darkstep intensity.

Now he returns with the second album "Vehemens 2". More metal slabs cut and recut, resampled and effected along with amens, firefights and chipgrinds. This time around there's more of the metal double kick live drum style programming and ethereal pads.

Rather than just smash breaks over metal samples (which he does do). Etdevagina also reassembles the sounds into brand new metal tracks. Reslicing guitar riffs into new sounding riffs and building new drum patterns out of in some cases recognisable old favourites.

Take "Hunt The Gods" for example which sounds like a manic live drummer electronically accelerated over some ambient noise.

Hmmm..electronically accelerated drummers? I wonder if that's in our cyborg future?
